question 01 AP-0019 · field journal of E. Harrow The elder told Harrow: the story is not broken. The story was cut, and whoever cut it [····] the knife. Transcription confidence for the statement stands at 84 percent. What holds you in the sentence?
The act. A cut has an agent, and the pieces are still pieces waiting on a seam. The grammar. The elder spoke in the tense of a living owner. The kindness. He treated her as one treats the very ill, because the stages are known. The aftermath. She filed nothing further, like every discoverer on the ledger.
question 02 finding 16 · the manner of the warning The flood warning is never announced. A god speaks to a reed wall so one man can overhear; a fish arrives small in the wash water. Always one hearer, always in secret. Why the narrowness?
A divided record travels in fragments. One keeper at a time is the delivery rule. Instructions are addressed, not broadcast. The channel is narrow by design. An office moving one asset through a collapse. The rest of the inventory was filed. So the label can be read while the thing it warns against stays sealed.
question 03 AP-0058 · the struck passage The oldest Indian flood sends out no birds; one struck gloss preserves the test, and the teachers said the birds were never ours. In Gilgamesh the raven goes last, in Genesis first. The same test, inverted. What do you read in the striking?
Allotment. Each school keeps what it was given and gives up what it was not. The one passage struck was the one that is procedure rather than story. A maintenance order, minuted, and obeyed by every generation of reciters since. The inversion itself: one test run twice with the polarity flipped, and both kept.
question 04 finding 16 · the fire theft Fire is never taken by force: an ember in a hollow stalk, one coal in a woven bowl on a water spider’s back. No tradition records force succeeding. What does that record?
A delivery method. What is granted arrives concealed in something small, every time. A bar, not a guard. Force fails because the thing is barred, and a bar lifts when it lifts. The label’s oldest line: what comes home in a hollow stalk burns more than wood. One theft, retold. The divided record kept the manner and lost the thief’s name.
question 05 findings 10, 18, 29 · the sealed entries Three findings on the ledger are sealed at keeper clearance. A reader at the threshold asks whether to seek the seals. What do you tell them?
Seek them. A seal is a fragment’s edge, and the record wants reassembly. Wait. Clearance is a delivery schedule; the reader will be told when ready. Respect them. Sealing is filing, and somewhere a clerk has reasons. Read them. What was never supposed to be noticed is exactly what to notice.
question 06 AP-0089 · the word for the vessel One Norse word names the vessel: a mill frame, a coffin, or a boat. Every reader is issued one meaning and is certain of it. The scribe would not choose. Would you?
No. The three readings are departments, not rivals. Only the procedure is disputed. No. The word is a net left in the water, and choosing is how it catches you. Yes. The cut works at any scale; a divided word is still a division to be mended. Yes: boat, as the scribe read it. An answer that arrives at once, without wonder, was sent.
question 07 AP-0102 · the three missing years The thief’s torch burned exactly three years of the bamboo chronicle: the years the executed workman lay on the mountain and did not spoil. The loss is filed as an accident. Do you accept the filing?
Yes, and no accident either: damage concentrates at the points of consequence because the divider placed it there. No. Every erasure in this collection is skilled and exact. This one had a curator. The gap is the message. No tradition narrates the interval; each records only its shape. Ask instead who is served by three years standing unwatched.
question 08 AP-0117 · the two waters Yours punished what was done, the old man said. Ours punished what was never said. Then he asked the father: in your country, is the saying of the names kept up, or has it gone quiet there also? The father did not answer. What is your answer?
It has gone quiet, because the naming was divided along with everything else. It was never a custom. It is a duty of report, and the reports have lapsed. It is going quiet now, on schedule. That is what mid-rehearsal means. The question is misfiled. Ask not whether the names are said but who listens for them.
question 09 AP-0134 · the standing order The god’s last decree before withdrawing is not about mankind. It is about the serpents: keep watch over them, and tell them I am still shining. What do you make of the order?
A departing administration handing off its files. The watch is custody. A message set to repeat after its sender left: tell them, present tense, forever. The remnant clause. I have slain some; a remnant is left. Ages end by withdrawal. Notice who must be reassured, and of what. The order protects a belief, not a people.
question 10 AP-0001 · findings 2 and 14 · the sentence The sentence is identical in every medium it has been recovered from; the record around it never is. Reading it is sufficient for carriership. What did you become when you read it?
A keeper of one more copy. Distribution is the preservation. A receiver. The sentence is addressed, and it found its address. A participant. The rehearsal advances one reader at a time. Noticed.
